Description:

Reinhard Keiser, the "Honour of Germany", baroque contemporary of Handel and Telemann, composed more than 100 operas – very popular at his times but largely forgotten for many decades. In his opera Die großmütige Tomyris (The Generous Tomyris), premiered in Hamburg in 1717, Keiser tells us an old legend, located in ancient Persia. Hans-Martin Linde’s 1988 live recording on period instruments – part of the legendary REFLEXE series - is led by an exquisit vocal cast including Gabriele Fontana and Christoph Prégradien.
